The Perfect DIY After-Sun Spray

Updated: Aug 28, 2021

Welcome back, Nature’s Oil lovers! We hope you have been enjoying this beautiful summer and getting back into the swing of things. Picture this, you had a beautiful day of family fun outside in the sun, and now you’re ready to get everyone in the house, showered, and ready for bed. Now that you’re back in the house, the task isn’t making sure everybody gets a water balloon to throw, it’s how to stop the pain and complaints focused around their sunburnt shoulders. Lucky you, this, after sun spray not only, relieves the sunburn, but it smells great! Lavender Essential Oil is known for its ability to soothe skin irritations. Peppermint Essential Oil is a soothing, cooling oil that makes it an absolute necessity for this recipe. Ingredients:

  • ½ a cup of Witch Hazel

  • 2 Tablespoons of Pure Aloe Vera Gel or Liquid

  • 10 drops of Lavender Essential oil

  • 10 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil

  • Spray bottle larger than 4 ounces

  • Fine Mist Spray Top for the Spray Bottle

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients and pour into a spray bottle

  2. Shake well to mix

  3. Apply generously to the affected skin

  4. Continue to apply to the affected area once dry until your sunburn is soothed!

Some tips and tricks to keep in mind… When you first spray this on, it will be a bit sticky. Let it dry and it’ll be perfectly fine. Chances are you’d rather be sticky for a bit instead of extra crispy! If you’re using this on sensitive skin, you might want to start with a smaller amount of peppermint oil. Maybe start with 3 drops! If you aren’t a fan of peppermint oil, you can switch it out for Tea Tree Essential Oil. Let us know if you try out this After-Sun Spray! We know we’ll be using it a lot.
